She’s ordered it on archival matte fine art paper as a Giclee print. 20×24 size.

So far these are the things I’m gathering for my redecorating project (living room and dining room ). We are putting some laminate flooring in and want to update the look of the house (we are selling it in a year after we move our big country home to its new location) so I’m spending time doing some little updates here to benefit us then. Laminate flooring is one that will help so much! Our carpet was not new when we moved in 10 years ago and with two boys it’s just been trashed (and a mom that often spills her coffee). Laminate is going in the living, dining, kitchen and hall for a seamless look. The bedrooms will keep their carpet (bedrooms don’t see as much wear and tear from what I can tell) and the bathroom will keep the tile we put in 7 years ago (for now- I may change my mind, you never know!).
So, this is the plan so far for the basics (walls are a vanilla color, my sofa is a slipcovered dark denim for summer- the light linen floral had to come off or the sandy, dirty boys would ruin it. Curtains, chair pads and accent pillows are on order and I’m searching out a few “americana style” pillows too – looking for flags,etc…so any suggestions are welcome. I will have to post when it’s all put together. Basically red, white and blue with the main color being blue throughout. WE have a big 4th of july party every summer so I’m planning to be done with this little project by then! I also have accents of vintage blue willow plates and a mix of antique and vintage furniture. Jason’s new father’s day art of the boys will be hung above the sofa as well. I have a collection of blue and white crosses and red, white and rust/metal stars from Hobby Lobby for wall arrangements too. I’ll be sure to post images when I’m done.
This little beauty has sparked a new collecting bug. I purchased this for $1 at my hubby’s grandma’s estate sale this past weekend and love it for a few reasons:
1. It belonged to his grandparents and is being kept in our family now
2. This pattern was created to celebrate the bicentennial of America and that was the year I was born
3. This collection will coordinate well with my Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne collection my grandparents have given me that I’m adding to as I find more pieces they didn’t have.
This pattern is called “Liberty Blue” by Staffordshire- made in England. It was one of those gems of the 70’s that could be purchased through grocery stores when you bought so much $ in groceries and there was a different piece each time. There were 15 different scenes of “colonial america”. I’ve since found the sugar bowl (with Betsy Ross and the flag on it), the creamer (Paul Revere on horseback on it), cups and saucers (Paul Revere again and the Old North Church). My dinner plate shown has Independence Hall. I found a lot of info online on this pattern and will enjoy collecting the pieces as I find them. I’ve been able to see all the pieces and designs made for this set and love each one. American history is something we love learning about in our home and will enjoy this collecting bug for years to come. It all started with one little dinner plate. I’ll post pics in the future as my collection grows.
